  • PhD scholar Bhanu Magotra’s work on “Improved streamflow simulations in hydrologically diverse basins using physically informed deep learning models” was selected as a featured article in the Hydrological Sciences Journal (HSJ).
  • PhD scholar Priyam Deka received Early Career Scientist’s Travel Support by European Geosciences Union (EGU) to attend EGU General Assembly 2025.
  • MS(R) student Anandita Kaushal got selected for the Charpak Summer Training Program, 2025 to work with PSL University, France for a period of 2 months.
  • PhD scholars Prateek Sharma, Kshitij Kumar Verma & MS(R) student Anandita Kaushal were awarded a sum of INR 10000 and were among the finalists in HIMASHIELD 2024, held in Trivandrum, Kerala, India.
2024
  • PhD scholar Nirdesh Kumar Sharma received ANRF’s International Travel Fund Grant for AGU General Assembly 2024.
  • PhD scholar Prateek Sharma received  AGU Student Travel Grant of USD 1000 for AGU General Assembly 2024.
  • PhD scholar Priyam Deka got selected for the Water Advanced Research and Innovation (WARI) Internship program to spend 6 months in University of Texas, Austin. 
  • PhD scholar Nirdesh Kumar Sharma was selected to attend the CCAI Summer School 2024 and was awarded a travel grant by MILA Quebec to support his participation.
  • PhD scholar Nirdesh Kumar Sharma was awarded the IEEE Student Travel Grant to attend International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS) 2024.
  • Undergraduate student Gautam Kunwar’s work on “Detection and socio-economic attribution of groundwater depletion in India” got media coverage in Times of India and Down to Earth.
  • PhD scholar Ravi Raj’s work on soil erosion was featured in an answer to a parliament question on 31st July 2024 on our surface soil erosion research through the Ministry of Earth Sciences, India.
  • PhD scholar Sai Kiran Kuntla received ANRF’s International Travel Fund Grant for participating in CNDS summer school at Uppsala University, Sweden.
  • PhD scholar Nirdesh Kumar Sharma’s research on landslides was referred to in the Lok Sabha (Parliament) by Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Mr. Tejasvi Surya, in the context to the Wayanad landslides.

  • PhD scholar Sai Kiran Kuntla received a Swedish South Asia Studies Network (SASNET) fellowship to attend a summer school at Lund University, Sweden.
  • PhD scholar Sai Kiran Kuntla received received the Foreign Travel Grant from CSIR, Govt. of India and the Research Excellence Travel Award from IIT Delhi  to attend AGU Fall Meeting 2023.
  • PhD scholar Sai Kiran Kuntla was awarded the Sivapalan Young Scientists Travel Award from the International Association of Hydrological Sciences (IAHS).
  • PhD scholar Nirdesh Kumar Sharma received the SERB-OVDF award to work on Landslide Early Warning Systems development at University of Alberta.

  • PhD scholar Sai Kiran Kuntla was featured on the European Space Agency (ESA) website for his studies on flood management utilizing Sentinel data. 
  • PhD scholar Ravi Raj’s work on Mapping Rainfall Erosivity was covered by various media IndianExpress, TimeNow, ShilongTimes, News9live, Mongabay, DowntoEarth, and IITD Website. 
  • PhD scholar Ravi Raj was featured in a special interview on “Soil Erosion mapping in India” for the Indian Government TV Channel Sansad TV.
  • PhD scholar Bhanu Magotra received best presentation award for his presentation on “Prediction of Hydrological Extremes across Indian Catchments using Long Short-Term Memory Network Model”, at ICCWE IIT Roorkee.
  • Undergraduate student H. Priyadarshi presented his research on “A Deep Learning Approach to Identifying Flood Inundation from SAR Data” in AGU Fall Meeting 2022.
